The establishment opens on Friday, Oct. 24, expected to bring a slice of Romania to the dining tables of Michigan.
According to WXYZ, the chefs, who priorly showcased their talent in various Italian kitchens in the area, have crafted a menu that boasts standout dishes such as Tomahawk Schnitzel and Transylvanian Goulash. Gabriel Botezan is set to manage the savory selections, while Gabriela Botezan will put forth a bread and dessert program that features both Romanian classics and her own renowned tiramisu.
The Metro Times highlights the Botezans' vision of bringing attention and reverence to Romanian cuisine in the U.S. "This is about sharing who we are," Gabriela said, expressing a desire to elevate the perception and experience of their native food. The restaurant's aesthetic complements this mission, with an interior designed by Colin Tury and enriched by Romanian embroidery from the Botezans’ family.
Meanwhile, Bar Gabi's drink offerings are not to be overlooked. An alum from Adelina, Kenneth Laatz, as reported by WXYZ, leads a cocktail program that promises to include atmospheric concoctions suitable for the moody ambiance that they intend to retain from Framebar. Furthermore, The Detroit News states that the bar, a prominent feature of the restaurant, will also serve a variety of wines and classic cocktails, including the trending Hugo Spritz in Romania.
