"Did you know that clogged dryer vents are one of the leading causes of home fires each year? Lint buildup can easily ignite and spread quickly," the department posted.
The Fire Rescue Department advises homeowners to "Clean your dryer lint trap after every load" and to "Check and clean your dryer vent and exhaust duct at least once a year." They further recommend ensuring that the vent is not obstructed by leaves, snow, or other debris, which could impede airflow and increase fire risk.
