
An Indiana County woman has been arrested and faces charges following a fatal stabbing incident within a home on Pender Avenue in Burrell Township. According to WPXI, Jessica Lynn Morelli, 36, from Blairsville, is being charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and possessing instruments of crime.
State Police, alongside Blairsville Borough Police, responded to the scene around 7:16 p.m. last night, where they discovered Morelli and a man, later identified as William Joseph Collins, who had been stabbed multiple times. Despite being swiftly transported to Allegheny General Hospital, Collins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. As per information obtained by WTAE, Collins suffered approximately 12 stab wounds.
The investigation into the stabbing revealed that Morelli and Collins shared the residence where the incident occurred. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the assault, was retrieved at the scene by troopers. The victim, found with blood on his back, head, arms, and stomach, was reportedly seen in a wheelchair, indicating potential mobility issues before the assault.
Morelli was taken into custody and is currently held at the Indiana County Jail, facing charges including criminal homicide. The Indiana County District Attorney’s Office is assisting state police in the ongoing investigation, as authorities have yet to release details about what led to the stabbing or the possible motive behind it.
