The boil water advisory for Commerce Township and Walled Lake has been lifted. ClickOnDetroit reported that the change followed repairs to a 42-inch transmission water main that ruptured on 14 Mile Road last Thursday.
Novi’s advisory was lifted on Tuesday, but Wixom remains under an advisory for an unspecified time. CBS News reported that Oakland County officials are asking residents to limit outdoor water use while the Great Lakes Water Authority completes final repairs.
The Commerce Township website advises residents to flush household systems by running taps for five minutes, discarding and refilling automatic ice makers, and running a few ice cycles before use.
During the advisory, residents were instructed to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth. Wixom residents are advised to continue following these precautions until officials provide further updates.
