Following a series of events that unfolded yesterday, a man was arrested by the Youth Violence Strike Force in connection with drug-related offenses and possession of a stolen vehicle. According to a Boston Police Department report, officers patrolling the area of 6 Atherton Street in Mattapan noticed a group of individuals congregating near a vehicle with stolen license plates, along with a man on a moped without a helmet.

When officers approached the scene, the man on the moped, subsequently identified as Troy Boyette, attempted to escape by running on the sidewalk, leading to a foot chase that ended near Columbus Avenue. While resisting and ignoring officers' commands, Boyette reached for his left pocket where officers, feeling the presence of a weapon, retrieved a starter pistol—not a functioning firearm. During the altercation, Boyette dropped a container holding prescription pills not prescribed to him.

A following search revealed that Boyette was in possession of approximately thirty-six grams of Fentanyl and $509 in U.S. currency. The moped he attempted to flee on was also confirmed to be stolen. He was subsequently arrested and is scheduled for arraignment at Roxbury District Court on multiple charges including trafficking a Class A substance and possession with intent to distribute Class B, among other offenses.

Meanwhile, officers shifted their focus to the group that had been standing around the vehicle. After investigating, it was learned that although the vehicle had been recently purchased, it was not properly registered with the stolen plates, which were confiscated at the scene. The suspect connected with the vehicle offense was summonsed to Roxbury District Court for number plate violation and receiving stolen property.
