Brentwood is set to pay homage to its veterans with a special ceremony at the Brentwood Police Headquarters on 910 Heritage Way, according to an announcement made by the city. The event, which is free to the public, aligns with the national observance of Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 11 a.m.

In a statement obtained by BrentwoodTN.gov, Vice Mayor Rhea Little III shared his enthusiasm, "I’m very excited for it, and it should be a great event." The ceremony also serves as a precursor to the installment of an official veterans’ monument the city plans to unveil at the same location in the coming year. Despite ongoing work with designers on the concept, the city has chosen to move forward with this year's observance at the intended monument site.

The Veterans Day commemoration honors all military service members, both wartime and peacetime participants, with the date marking the end of World War I in 1918. Brentwood, a community that is the proud home to more than 1,800 veterans, as reported by 2023 U.S. Census data, seeks to extend gratitude to these individuals through this and other related events.

A local highlight is the participation of the Brentwood High School Chamber Choir, which will deliver the National Anthem during the program. Tom Freeman, a U.S. Air Force/National Guard Veteran and co-founder of Honor Our Veterans, is slated as the event's keynote speaker. In 2024, Freeman approached the city about hosting Memorial Day and Veterans Day observances, and "The City Commission unanimously agreed to partner with Honor Our Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Franklin Chapter to host these events," BrentwoodTN.gov reported.

Post-ceremony festivities will include a reception open to attendees. Support for the event comes from several community organizations, including Williamson Inc. and Leadership Brentwood, who are contributing to the ceremony’s proceedings. Further details about the Brentwood City Commission and upcoming events can be found on the city’s website under the "Your Government" tab.
