The quaint town of Canonsburg recently experienced an unusual duck invasion. Over the last two weeks, the community found itself amidst a flock of rubber ducks, ranging from small to giant sizes. Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop, a local confectionery, has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the whimsical display. According to WPXI, the shop strategically placed 2,000 small ducks last Monday, added another 2,000 medium ducks on October 2nd, and upped the ante with 600 large ducks on Monday.

The duck placements culminated on Thursday with ten 14-foot-tall rubber ducks perched precariously atop the rooftops of various downtown businesses. As the shop's owner, Christopher J. Beers, told WPXI, "We love a good surprise - and we love Canonsburg." He went on to explain that the ducks were meant to "spark smiles, bring people downtown, and remind everyone that shopping and spending time in the heart of Canonsburg is the place to be." Grandpa Joe's aims to encourage visitors to quickly capture a photo opportunity with these oversized ducks and to support local commerce.

This is not the first time Canonsburg residents have woken up to find their town transformed. The installation quickly became the talk of the social media town, as well as a visual treat that drew spectators and shoppers alike. WTAE shared images and videos submitted by a viewer, showcasing the newly-placed ducks that lined Pike Street.
