The Town of Carrboro has launched a tax relief program to address the recent increase in property taxes. With $45,000 allocated, the program is intended to assist homeowners affected by the rise in Orange County property valuations.
The initiative takes shape through a partnership with Orange County's Longtime Homeowners Assistance (LHA) program. To qualify for the aid, Carrboro homeowners must have owned their home for at least five years and demonstrate a need for financial help in paying their property tax bills. They must also meet certain income criteria and other eligibility requirements that the program stipulates. According to the town's official announcement, the offer is open until November 3.
For those interested in learning more or applying, detailed information is available on Orange County’s LHA webpage. This resource offers extensive guidance on the program's structure, eligibility rules, and the application process.
