Carrollton gears up to embrace the festive spirit with the annual "Santa on the Square" event, setting the stage on December 6, from 4-8 p.m., in Historic Downtown Carrollton at 1106 S. Broadway. The city anticipates a high-spirited evening enriched with the presence of Santa Claus himself, who, alongside toy soldier stilt walkers, one of his cherished reindeer, will light up the square and sprinkle some holiday joy around, according to an announcement from the City of Carrollton.
The event promises to offer a cornucopia of activities suited for all ages, including face painting, a trackless train ride encircling the Downtown Carrollton Square, and a collection of holiday crafts that invite families to create and cherish. The anticipation for the official tree lighting ceremony is set at 6 p.m., following which, onlookers can marvel at the wonder of Carrollton’s 175-drone light display presented by Sky Elements Drone Shows.
Not only is the event a perfect photo opportunity—with a live reindeer and a towering 20-foot decorated tree but it's also a chance for you to catch a picture with Santa, replete with the promise of making those Instagram-able moments. In addition, Downtown merchants will be open, offering you a chance to tick off items from that holiday shopping list for friends and family.
In a tradition that keeps epistolary communication alive, children are invited to send in their letters for Santa to the North Pole starting Friday, November 21, through Friday, December 5, and during the event on December 6. A special mailbox will be present in Downtown Carrollton specifically to ensure that Santa gets all the children's wishes and requests.
