Carrollton, Texas, is set to come alive once again with the 15th annual Festival at the Switchyard on November 8. The city has pulled out all the stops to provide an entertainment-packed day for families and music aficionados alike. This year's free event features a headlining performance from Grammy-award-winning rocker Rick Springfield, who is best known for his hit single "Jessie's Girl." Fans won't want to miss the chance to see Springfield, along with a slate of opening acts that include the Spin Doctors, Sixpence None the Richer, and Alien Ant Farm, as reported by the City of Carrollton.
For those seeking a dose of '90s nostalgia, Spin Doctors and Sixpence None the Richer offer a trip down memory lane, with timeless hits like "Two Princes" and "Kiss Me," respectively. The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. with performances from local talents such as School of Rock (North Dallas) and the Kenny Chesney tribute band Barefoot Nation. As for the kids, they can look forward to free face painting, balloon twisting, and a variety of carnival games. Activities will be wrapping up at 6 or 7 p.m., depending on the attraction. The City of Carrollton promises an inclusive atmosphere with something for every family member.
The day is not only about music; it offers a vibrant community experience. Local schools and groups will be providing energetic performances in front of the stage, with dance routines from Creekview High School's Department of Dance and the Hebron High School Silver Wings drill team. For a change of pace, martial arts demonstrations and K-pop dance moves aim to captivate festivalgoers. Within the festival grounds, attendees can engage with strolling magicians, cosplayers, and an array of craftspeople pitching their festive wares, according to the City of Carrollton's announcements.
