A Chardon bar was the scene of a blaze this past Saturday, having demanded a swift response from the local fire department. Cleveland19 reports that the Chardon Fire Department crews arrived at Chardon Tavern, located on the 400 block of Water Street, at 12:08 p.m. to find moderate damage but no injuries.
Teams from Hambden, Munson, and Concord fire departments were also on hand to provide aid. The collaborative effort quickly managed to get the situation under control and safely cleared the building. WKYC detailed the arrival of firefighters to an active fire at the back of the tavern and thanked to neighboring fire departments for their role in extinguishing the flames.
While the firefighting efforts were succinctly performed and shown to be effective in controlling the situation, the cause behind the fire remains a subject of investigation. This has been confirmed by both news outlets and the Geauga County Fire Investigation Unit, with the investigation ongoing at this time.
FOX 8's coverage highlighted that crews performed an "aggressive offensive attack" once they had assured all occupants were out, and managed quickly to bring the fire under control. At present, it remains undetermined if there were any injuries related to the incident, adding an element of uncertainty to the day's events.
