Charlotte County has received a notable distinction for its commitment to employee health and wellness, being named one of the 2025 Healthiest Employers in Florida. This prestigious award recognizes organizations that have dedicated efforts in creating a supportive environment for their employees' well-being, through various programs and initiatives.
Instrumental to the county's recognition has been its Wellness at Work program, which is aimed at catering to the health and well-being of county and constitutional office employees and their dependents. The initiative holistically embraces the eight dimensions of wellness, offering resources such as health challenges, educational workshops, wellness screenings, and lifestyle support. These elements strive to empower employees and their families, helping to improve their overall quality of life and health.
According to the county's announcement, the award shines a light on Charlotte County's ongoing investment in a workplace culture that is health-conscious, striving to maintain work-life balance amidst an evolving work landscape. With a focus on flexibility and mental health, the county is at the forefront of organizational support meeting the current demands of its workforce.
County Administrator Hector Flores is a staunch advocate for the well-being of his staff and their families. "Ensuring our staff has access to physical and mental health services is one of my top priorities," Flores said. "In order to continue to deliver exceptional service to our community, my colleague need to know we’re here to help them and their families in times of need. I’m proud our organization is recognized as a leader in supporting its employees’ overall well-being," he told Charlotte County's news release.
To be considered for the honor, Charlotte County completed the annual Healthiest Employers assessment, conducted by Springbuk. This assessment uses a proprietary 1-100 scoring rubric covering six key areas of organizational health and wellness—strategy, culture, and outcomes being just a few. Charlotte County's responses earned it a place on the Healthiest Employers Index, ranking it within its size category.
