
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives are currently investigating a homicide that unfolded early this Sunday morning on the 4600 block of Wilkinson Boulevard, situated in the Freedom Division. The incident, which escalated to a chilling culmination at about 1:25 a.m., was first signaled by the sound of gunfire picked up by off-duty officers working the area.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police found a male victim with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding MEDIC. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s statement details the immediate response by the Homicide Unit detectives and the Crime Scene Search, who arrived to process the area and gather physical evidence.
The collaborative effort at the crime scene also included members from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, as well as personnel from the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC. This case has sparked an active and ongoing investigation, probing the moments that led to this unsettling loss of life.
