Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on the 4800 block of Wallingford Street in the Westover Division. Officers responded around 5:32 p.m. on Friday after a call to assist MEDIC and found a victim dead from a gunshot wound at the scene, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
CMPD Homicide Unit detectives, along with Crime Scene Search specialists, collected evidence and examined the area. Operations Command, Victim Services, and MEDIC also assisted in the coordinated investigation, as reported by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is continuing to investigate the case under report number 20251010-1732-00.
