This Friday, First Ward Park in Charlotte will host the city’s bike program, which will provide free bike lights ahead of daylight saving time. The event is intended to promote cyclist safety on city streets.
On November 3, free bike lights will be available near Cordelia Park. The Charlotte Department of Transportation announced that the giveaway will take place on the greenway at 24th Street from 5–7 p.m.
The initiative is part of the city’s #VisionZero program, which works toward eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries. The program promotes safe and equitable transportation options for all community members. "Bike lights are one small step to staying safe on Charlotte streets," the department stated in their social media post.
This program is supported by funding for bicycle, pedestrian, and roadway improvement projects. As part of the city’s efforts to reduce accidents and promote safe travel, the free bike light giveaway is included in a broader approach to enhancing safety for all residents and visitors.
