Berg Tool, a Chesterfield, Michigan-based company specializing in fabrication and machining, has expanded from oil and gas production into the aerospace sector with support from the Macomb County Economic Development team. The company has achieved AS9100D certification, a requirement for aerospace manufacturing.
Company president and operations manager, Andrew Kavc, shared details of Berg Tool’s growth in an interview published on Macomb County’s official website. Kavc said the company is focused on expanding capabilities and improving processes. Berg Tool also participated in a Roundtable Discussion with Congressman John James and Boeing to address supply chain issues and the role of small manufacturers in U.S. projects.
Kavc noted the workforce shortage in the manufacturing industry, stating that retirements outpace the entry of new skilled workers. Many new workers require significant training. Berg Tool participates in initiatives such as Manufacturing Day to encourage high school students to consider careers in skilled trades.
Kavc also emphasized the company’s focus on fair pay and a supportive workplace environment as part of its efforts to recruit and retain employees.
