According to the alert, these incidents have targeted individuals alone on park property, with the assailants utilizing physical force to steal property, notably gold chains and necklaces.
These crimes have been concentrated in the 1st (Central) District and the 18th (Near North) District, with multiple incidents reported at various times and locations across the affected areas – stretching from early August to mid-October. One such incident occurred on the 1100 block of S. Columbus on August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m. and was just the beginning of a spree that has included numerous occasions like the one on the 700 block of N. State St on October 10, 2025, at 12:20 p.m.
The offenders have been described as one to four Hispanic men and women, aged between 20 and 40 years old, and an African American male clad in a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and white gym shoes.
