
A hit-and-run incident in West Englewood has resulted in the tragic death of a woman, Chicago police reported. Authorities are now issuing a community alert and seeking the public's help in identifying the vehicle involved—a gray Nissan Maxima, 4-door sedan—known to have sustained significant damage, including a broken grille and windshield, as well as damage to the hood and roof.
The fatal event transpired in the early hours of October 19, around 2:13 a.m., on the 6600 block of S. Ashland. The victim, a female pedestrian, was struck by the vehicle as it traveled northbound, after which the driver fled the scene without stopping. According to an announcement from the Chicago Police, the woman was fatally injured upon impact.
Police have emphasized the urgency of locating the perpetrator and have encouraged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact 9-1-1, providing the location and direction of travel of the suspect. People have been advised to avoid approaching the subjects of the vehicle, indicating the potential danger involved.
In an effort to gather more evidence, the authorities are also requesting anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area around the time of the accident to come forward.
