
The Clayton Police Department (CPD) has released its weekly incident report with a summary of events and encounters ranging from everyday traffic mishaps to outright criminal behaviors. In the week spanning from September 22 to the 28, CPD responded to a hefty 576 calls for service, among these were 16 vehicle crashes, 60 requests to assist other agencies, and a variety of crimes that demanded their attention, from trespassing to fraud.
According to the City of Clayton’s official website, police officers responded to multiple incidents over the past week.
On Monday, a repeat trespasser was arrested after hiding in a garage, and another man was caught with a chair taken from a local restaurant. Police also investigated check fraud involving a local law firm, working with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
On Tuesday, officers handled a traffic stop involving a driver with an outstanding warrant and suspected illegal substances, removed a loiterer from a Starbucks, responded to a vehicle crash with minor injuries, and investigated a home burglary involving stolen jewelry.
Midweek incidents included an arrest for fentanyl possession, a box truck collision with a hotel awning, a purse theft at a healthcare facility resulting in fraudulent charges, and an arrest linked to a forged check deposit.
Later in the week, officers arrested a man for trespassing and property damage at Carondelet Plaza. Over the weekend, police responded to a traffic incident in which two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle, a three-car crash caused by driver inattention, and a case involving stolen vehicle plates detected by Flock Safety cameras.
