
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee Cheryl Harris Gates, 43, was arrested on Friday on charges of attempted murder, along with allegations of contaminating food or drink, stalking, and damaging property. The arrest, handled by CMPD’s Domestic Violence Unit, did not involve any school property, students, or staff, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Gates was taken into custody by detectives and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. Her current employment status with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has not been disclosed, and the investigation remains active with updates expected from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Public Affairs Office.
