In a distressing incident at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus police responded to a call yesterday morning around 8:45 a.m., following reports of a stabbing within the facility. According to the Columbus Division of Police social media post, the altercation occurred in a large kitchen area between co-workers, leading to one individual sustaining multiple lacerations.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Makaela Wilson, reportedly fled the scene following the incident — leading officers on a chase that concluded in a nearby wooded area. The victim, found bleeding in the kitchen, was initially in critical condition but has since been stabilized in the hospital's emergency room. Wilson, after a short pursuit, was apprehended and found with minor self-inflicted injuries.
The Columbus Division of Police further stated that a large knife was discovered near Wilson in the woods. Additionally, security footage retrieved by detectives showed Wilson exiting the hospital with the knife visible in her hand before attempting to hide it under her shirt. These troubling findings added factual weight to the charges levied against Wilson for felonious assault.
