In a recent crackdown on drug-related activities, Jacksonville law enforcement have reported the arrest of a convicted felon, Anthony Smokes, 41, who is now facing a fresh slew of serious drug charges. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's Community Problem Response Unit apprehended Smokes last month after discovering he had an outstanding warrant for felony charges.
Upon executing the arrest in his apartment on Tamaya Boulevard, authorities found an assortment of drugs and evidence pointing to drug trafficking. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office social media post, the search yielded "613.7 grams of Fentanyl, 5,115.84 grams of Methamphetamine, 244.8 grams of Powder Cocaine, 53.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, 153.5 grams of Marijuana, one pistol, and nearly $45K in cash."
Smokes's criminal record is extensive, with this being nearly the two dozen-th confrontation with Jacksonville law enforcement. The narcotics found, particularly the Fentanyl, is said to account for over 306,000 potentially lethal doses, signaling a significant disruption to illegal drug operations in the area.
In the aftermath of Smokes's arrest, the Sheriff's Office has reiterated their commitment to monitoring and addressing dangerous and illegal activity, urging the public to remain vigilant. "Our detectives are out every single day monitoring for dangerous and illegal activity," the post from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office declares, and they encourage anyone who notices suspicious behavior to report it by calling 904.630.0500, or to provide anonymous tips through First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1.866.845.TIPS.
