In a coordinated effort to combat retail theft, the North Central Crime Response Team made swift arrests of a suspected theft crew in Dallas. The Dallas Police detailed how the unit was tipped off by the Central Investigative Unit regarding an incident on E. Mockingbird Lane that occurred on October 10 at around 11:45 a.m. The suspects were reported to have left the scene, heading north on Abrams. This information was presented in a report from the Dallas Police Department.
The crime response team set up watch at the crew's next predicted target, Preston Road and Royal Lane. Their vigilance paid off when the suspects arrived; officers were able to quickly interrupt their activities and to safely conduct an arrest. The individuals apprehended were three juveniles and 22-year-old Zakerra Jackson. They were charged with Theft of Property valued between $2,500 and $30,000. Jackson faces additional charges due to outstanding warrants.
More than just restoring stolen goods, the operation led to reclaiming an aspect of security for the affected business owner. Over $21,000 in stolen products was recovered at the scene and was subsequently returned. Major Pollyanna Ashford, North Central Patrol Commander, praised the effort, stating, "Thanks to the quick and clever response of our officers, we not only brought justice to the owner but also played a key role in restoring an element of their livelihood," according to the Dallas Police Department.
