In the wake of recent weather alerts, the City of Davis has made the call to close all of its fields and the community pump track, citing soggy conditions and a weather forecast promising further inclement situations.
All fields, including soccer, baseball, and multi-use grounds, are off-limits, the Playfields Synthetic Soccer field remains an exception, staying open for community use, an anomaly within the widespread shutdown, according to a recent notice posted by the City of Davis.
City authorities have communicated that the status of the fields is not up for personal interpretation or contingent on the physical presence of signage; the fields are closed, full stop, and community cooperation is expected.
For those who might encounter individuals violating these directives, the City has provided a non-emergency police department number (530) 747-5400 to report such incidents, and they have stressed the importance of adhering to the closures in an effort to mitigate any unnecessary damage to the public spaces. Signs noting the closures are slated to be erected at the parks post-haste.
The fields will undergo re-evaluation today, at which point the City of Davis will provide updates regarding the reopening of these community amenities.
