Escape the city bustle and reconnect with the tranquil outdoors at Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area's (LLELA) Open House, happening tomorrow, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, free of charge to the public, promises a smorgasbord of activities suitable for the entire family. Keen to encourage appreciation and education of the local environment, LLELA invites visitors to partake in a day filled with exploration and discovery, as per the City of Lewisville.
According to a statement by the LLELA, attendees stepping through the gates located at 201 E. Jones Street will be met with an array of interactive experiences. The Mariposas celebration beckons with its vivid assembly of butterfly displays, edifying the public on these elegant pollinators and their essential role in the ecosystem. Offering more than just passive observation, visitors can dive into hands-on activities with exhibits drawing them close to the truly native flora and fauna.
For those whose hearts are stirred by the emergent allure of freshwater fish, LLELA will not disappoint. Fishing enthusiasts, armed with hopes to capture local fish species, will find age and skill no barrier along the preserve's river. Furthermore, history buffs can set foot into the past, exploring the quaint Minor-Porter Log House, getting a taste of pioneer life in the 1870s, and demonstrating camping gear that families curious about outdoor living can try out; they come equipped with questions or an eagerness to learn.
