A quiet afternoon in Forward Township was disrupted when a school bus rammed into a residential home yesterday. The vehicle, belonging to Rittenhouse Bus Lines, first struck a pickup truck before crashing into the home located on Rainbow Run Road around 3:30 p.m., as per details gathered from CBS News Pittsburgh. The collision pushed the truck through the house’s front porch, dealing significant damage to the structure.
Shock waves of the event were felt by the neighborhood, with one resident describing the crash as a "big bam" that prompted a fearful reaction, according to a WPXI interview. HEROIC actions by those nearby helped extricate the bus driver from the wreckage, amidst the chaos of gushing water and a dislodged truck.
Building inspectors are expected to evaluate the compromised integrity of the home, with Joe Ferson sharing the grim outlook of his vehicle’s state and the family’s ability to continue inhabiting the house. With a sense of relief, he told WPXI, "Just thanking God everyone is alright and my kids weren't on that bus."
As for Rittenhouse Bus Lines, the company owning the bus, they have yet to release a statement regarding the accident.
