An overturned dump truck caused a stir on Old Statesville Road near Hucks Road in the Huntersville area, the Huntersville Fire Department has confirmed. The incident took place early this morning and while the truck driver was unscathed, the accident led to downed power lines and consequential traffic disruptions. Commuters were advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
According to a report by QC News, the truck overturned betwixt Charlotte and Huntersville bringing with it a sweep of power lines, however, power outages were minimal with only one customer losing service as of 7 a.m. The Huntersville Fire Department swiftly responded to the call, securing the site and managing the aftermath of what could have been a perilous event but the incessant traffic delays that followed served as a knot in daily commutes.
WCNC further relayed statements from the fire department, emphasizing that despite the potential hazard intrinsic to such accidents, there were no injuries reported. Regular updates by local authorities recommended that while they address the complications, drivers should consider alternative paths, highlighting the vehicular bottleneck that was anticipated to unravel throughout the day.
Also, a warning was broadcasted via the official Huntersville Fire Department Facebook page, alerting residents and commuters of the situation "Earlier this morning, we ran a crash on Old Statesville Rd near Hucks Road involving an overturned dump truck" they shared, along with assurances that "Fortunately, no injuries" had occurred but might there be continuous delays due to the downed powerlines.
