An incident of aggravated assault disrupted the early morning calm in a Dunwoody residence yesterday. According to the Dunwoody Police Department, officers were dispatched to 1302 Lake Ridge Lane after receiving a call about a person being shot.
Upon their arrival, officials found that the victim, rudely roused from sleep by the flashing lights of his own vehicle, stepped outside to confront the disruption. Facing an unexpected and harrowing situation, he was met by two males, one inside his car, and the other, positioned menacingly on the outside. The latter fired five shots in his direction immediately as the door opened. While the victim fortuitously evaded direct harm, one bullet damaged the door jamb and window casing, sending debris hurtling towards him which resulted in chest injuries.
Authorities indicated that the victim required on-site medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries but was not taken to the hospital. This stroke of violence etched itself not only on the victim's memory but also in the form of bullet marks on surrounding apartments and vehicles, a jarring testament to the event's chaos and potential for greater tragedy.
Investigators have not yet apprehended any suspects, and this case remains under the determined scrutiny of the Dunwoody Police. Detective Waldron is leading the charge, reaching out to the community for assistance. In a statement from the department, "This is an active investigation. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Waldron." As they delve into the circumstances of this crime, they urge the public to come forward with any information that may shed light on these events.
Meanwhile, the Dunwoody PD and its spokesperson Sgt. Michael Cheek are directing all further media inquiries via email, ensuring that updates will be provided as this investigation proceeds.
