A fatal crash in St. Petersburg last night claimed the life of 46-year-old Shannon White. According to FOX 13 News, the incident occurred just after 8 p.m. when White, riding an electric bike west across 66th Street North, collided with a southbound Ford Focus. Police said the crash took place outside a marked crosswalk, and the victim reportedly did not heed traffic signals at the time.
The driver of the Ford Focus remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to IONTB. White was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The St. Petersburg Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision. The Tampa Free Press reported that officials are focusing on whether the absence of a crosswalk and the failure to observe traffic signals contributed to the crash.
