Early this morning, a driver suspected of being impaired crashed a southbound vehicle on Nellis Boulevard near Charleston Boulevard in east Las Vegas and then ran from the scene. A passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries police described as serious but non-life-threatening, and officers closed Nellis in both directions while they investigated.
Police say driver lost control, left scene
Metro police told investigators the car crossed all travel lanes, struck a fence and a retaining wall, and the driver fled on foot after the collision. The crash, which was reported shortly before 5 a.m., prompted officers to treat impairment as a possible factor, as reported by FOX5.
Road closures and traffic
Traffic officials temporarily closed Nellis Boulevard between Charleston Boulevard and Winterwood Boulevard while emergency crews and crash investigators worked the scene. Motorists were asked to use alternate routes as the closure caused delays in the east valley, per KTNV.
