An Eastpointe man is facing serious charges after being arraigned for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 12-year-old child. The accused, 52-year-old Andrew Logan Williams, allegedly committed the crime on September 22 near his home and subsequently took explicit photos of the victim.
Following the assault, the minor managed to escape and seek help from a neighbor, who contacted the police, leading to an investigation that saw Williams fleeing to New York before being extradited back to Michigan, as reported by The Detroit News.
Williams's charges, as noted by CBS Detroit, include two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of kidnapping, and one count of child sexually abusive activity; furthermore, he faces a potential life sentence if convicted. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized the severity of the alleged offenses in a statement, promising aggressive pursuit of the case to "ensure accountability and to deliver justice for the victim," despite the principle that the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty, as per The Detroit News.
