An elderly couple was found deceased in their west Las Vegas home following a police welfare check. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call yesterday after 4:30 p.m. prompting officers to visit a residence located on the 11000 block of Glacier View Avenue, near Lake Mead and the 215 Beltway, according to News3LV.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials, peering through a window, observed an unresponsive man on a bed. They gained entry and confirmed that both a man and a woman were inside and had sustained gunshot wounds. The scene had an eerie stillness, a tragic indicator of a story that was over before they arrived. Police say it appears the woman was shot by her husband, who then turned the gun on himself following news that their medical conditions had worsened, which may have informed the grim narrative that unfolded inside that home.
Emergency medical personnel later pronounced the couple deceased at the scene. The identities of the decedents, as well as the details concerning the cause and manner of death, will be disclosed by the Clark County Coroner's Office once an investigation has been conducted.
