An 88-year-old man was fatally struck by a school bus in Oldsmar on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of Forrest Lakes Boulevard and Pine Avenue.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, identified as Julio Cobaich, was crossing Forrest Lakes Boulevard in a crosswalk when a school bus driven by 75-year-old Timothy Mullin made a left turn from Pine Avenue and hit him. Cobaich was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities reported that neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors in the crash. Two juveniles were on the bus at the time but were not injured, and the driver was unharmed.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is leading the investigation. No further details about potential charges or additional findings have been released.
