Elk Grove Police Department has reported that David Collins, a high-school teacher at Laguna Creek High School, is currently facing charges for alleged sex-related offenses involving a minor. The individual in question, aged 38, was employed by the same institution where the said minor was studying during the time the crimes were committed, as detailed in the department's Facebook post.
Recent revelations surfaced when former students brought forth allegations to district officials, who, in turn, notified the Elk Grove Police Department. Following these allegations, Collins was placed on administrative leave. An investigation ensued, and it was deduced that between 2015 and 2018, Collins allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with an underage student.
In a detailed statement, authorities revealed the execution of a search warrant at Collins' residence in Sacramento. The search reportedly validated the allegations, subsequently leading to Collins' arrest. The social media post from the police department indicated that Collins is being held without bail, facing charges under Penal Code Sections 287(B)(1) for Oral Copulation with a Person under 18 Years Old and 289(H) for Penetration by a Foreign Object-Victim under 18 Years Old.
