An Everett man has been arrested and charged with multiple narcotics offenses following a meticulous investigation by the Chelsea Police Department. Last Thursday, authorities executed a search warrant on Ramon Vega, 74, at his 17 Irving Street residence, culminating a months-long operation into the illegal distribution of prescription pills within the city.
According to a social media post from the Chelsea Police Department, Vega was apprehended while driving on Everett Avenue near Dunkin’ Donuts. During the stop, officers seized several containers of prescription medications, including Oxycodone, Clonazepam, and Gabapentin, and $996 in cash believed to be profits from his illegal enterprise.
The residential search warrant led to the discovery of 94 additional Oxycodone pills and $5,794 in cash. Vega was then booked at Chelsea Police Headquarters facing charges for the possession with the intent to distribute Class B, Class C, and Class E controlled substances.
Chelsea Police Chief Keith E. Houghton expressed his appreciation for the diligent work of his officers, stating: "This case demonstrates the commitment of our officers to disrupt the flow of dangerous and addictive prescription narcotics into our community. Our department will continue to pursue those who profit from those suffering from addiction and work with our regional partners to hold them accountable," as per the department's post. Vega's arraignment took place in Chelsea District Court on the Chelsea charges.
