An explosion occurred late this morning at a Holiday Inn hotel under construction in downtown Houston, leaving multiple people injured, according to the Houston Fire Department. The incident took place around 11 a.m. at 1319 Texas Street, near Austin Street, west of Daiken Park. KHOU reported that firefighters responded shortly after the explosion, which originated in a boiler room inside the building.
The blast caused the top floor of the structure to collapse. According to FOX26 Houston, Five individuals were reported with facial burns, though the extent of their injuries remains under investigation. Their identities have not been released. Multiple ambulances were dispatched to treat and transport the injured.
The Houston Fire Department confirmed that a boiler explosion triggered the injuries and structural damage. Emergency crews continue to work at the site, ensuring structural safety and providing assistance.
