An early morning blaze in Orangevale forced a family of five to evacuate their home, reports indicate. Sacramento Metro Fire crews were dispatched to a residence on Shoshone Way shortly after 12:30 a.m. where they encountered a severe garage fire that had quickly spread to the main living area and the attic. According to CBS Sacramento, the family, comprising three adults and two children, was safely evacuated thanks to an alert from their smoke alarm.
Upon arrival, firefighters worked quickly to contain the flames to prevent further spread to surrounding structures. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District confirmed their response to the 8708 Shoshone Way address at around 12:31 a.m., highlighting collaboration with Folsom Fire in battling the destructive fire. In a statement obtained by FOX40, officials credited a working smoke alarm with notifying the occupants in time for a safe evacuation.
No injuries were thankfully reported in the incident, an outcome likely buoyed by the presence of such early-warning systems in the home. The fire's cause, however, still remains under investigation at this time.
