Early this morning tragedy struck in Sacramento’s Mansion Flats neighborhood, where a vehicle collided with a pedestrian, resulting in a fatality. According to authorities, the incident occurred just after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of North 16th Street and North B Street, as reported by CBS Sacramento. The circumstances that led to the crash have yet to be detailed by the police; however, a pedestrian was confirmed to have been struck and subsequently transported to the hospital.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Sacramento Police confirmed that the person succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the local hospital, as stated by KCRA. The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time as the investigation continues. In response to the accident, traffic was redirected around the crash site, with North 16th Street at North C Street, as well as North B Street, and Ahern Street being temporarily closed. These road closures added a layer of complexity to the morning commute for many Sacramento residents.
The Sacramento Police Department is currently investigating the crash, and it is still unclear what specifically caused the accident. The roadways were reopened later the same morning, allowing normal traffic to resume.
