Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting involving an off-duty Milwaukee police officer. The incident occurred near North 49th Street and West Mill Road, according to FOX6Now. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene yesterday.
One man died after an altercation with the officer, which began when the officer was reportedly rear-ended while on the way to work. WISN reported that a confrontation followed, leading the officer to shoot the other man.
CBS 58 identified the deceased as 26-year-old Elijah Wilks and reported that the officer was pistol-whipped before firing their weapon. The Milwaukee Police Department has not yet released an official statement, and officials are expected to provide more details as the investigation continues.
