The FBI Milwaukee has made a considerable dent in the local underworld with the announcement of "Operation Chalkline," a comprehensive takedown of a violent street gang with ties extending to a major international drug cartel. The operation, snaking its way through the streets of Milwaukee and Racine, culminated in the arrest of 22 suspects who now face federal charges, and the execution of two dozen federal search warrants.
In this ballet of law enforcement expertise, more than four kilograms of cocaine and 260 grams of fentanyl were seized—an alarming reminder of the poison coursing through the veins of our communities. Also recovered were 1.5 pounds of methamphetamines, six pounds of marijuana, and an arsenal of 23 firearms, not to mention three vehicles confiscated as part of the sprawling investigation. This significant operation draws back the curtains on the harsh realities of the drug trade and its armament.
A Mount Pleasant Police Department Task Force Officer helmed the orchestra of this operation, representative of the FBI Milwaukee Area Safe Streets Task Force. Interagency cooperation showcased an impressive lineup, including Task Force Officers from multiple departments, such as Caledonia, Racine City, and the Racine County Sheriff's Office. All forces combined, executed strategic moves that encompassed the coordination of 14 SWAT teams throughout the operation's execution.
The law enforcement encore included pivotal contributions from a range of partners across the spectrum of public safety, including the Milwaukee and Oak Creek Police Departments and federal agencies such as the DEA, ATF, HSI, and the U.S. Marshals Service. In a statement by the FBI Milwaukee, reported by FBI Milwaukee, the agency emphasizes its dedication to "crushing violent crime together with our law enforcement partners to ensure public safety and security in Milwaukee, Racine, and throughout the state of Wisconsin."
In an effort to continue this momentum, FBI Milwaukee is reaching out to citizens, encouraging them to report any criminal activity by contacting local police, calling 1-800-CALL-FBI, or submitting tips online.
