A fire broke out early morning yesterday at an apartment building in SoHo, injuring two firefighters. According to abc7NY, the blaze started around 8 a.m. on the fifth floor of a building located at 199 Lafayette St. About 60 FDNY and EMS personnel responded to the scene as smoke poured from the windows.
The two injured firefighters were taken to Lenox Hill Hospital with minor injuries. FOX 5 confirmed their hospitalization following the incident. The extent of property damage has not yet been determined.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. Authorities have not released information about whether any residents were inside the building or if others were injured. The investigation remains ongoing.
