A case of alleged child neglect has surfaced in North Port, Florida, where a couple is accused of abandoning a juvenile on the side of Interstate 75 with a bag containing two handguns and cash. According to FOX 13 News, the involved individuals are Bradley Leon Guerrero Santos, age 36, and Rosanella Mendiola Borja, age 35. Santos is facing additional charges for providing a minor with firearms.
The North Port Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a suspicious male walking along the highway on the evening of last Wednesday, shortly after the juvenile had been left there. The information gathered by police statements, as reported by Crime Online, reveals that after returning from a routine walk of the family dog, the juvenile found Santos and Borja frantically packing. They allegedly informed the juvenile that they were hastily traveling to either Guam or Idaho and instructed him to "take care of the house" before forcing him out of the car along with the aforementioned bag of guns and cash.
Upon interaction with the police, the juvenile reported that they were en route to a non-specific destination, Guam or Idaho, when they expressed the desire to not proceed with the trip. Subsequently, he was promptly abandoned on the side of one of Florida's major highways. The child was later discovered by authorities and subsequently detailed the events to them.
Charges have since been laid against Santos and Borja. Santos has been accused of child neglect and distributing firearms to a minor, while Borja is facing a charge of child neglect, as confirmed by WINK News.
