Defending himself, Flores said, "I know the truth, and the truth will come out," during an interview with WOAI/KABB.
According to KENS 5, the situation unfolded when a student alerted another coach after Flores commented on her moving the camera, and an SD card found within the device revealed compromising images; Flores had previously assured that the camera was non-functional and lacked an SD card, yet the evidence led to his firing and subsequent arrest by SAPD on a Tuesday night. While the full extent of the recordings is under investigation, initial reports indicate there may have been footage of the suspect in sexual acts and images of students changing clothes.
