A former instructional assistant from Northside ISD was arrested on a charge of sexual assault of a child, after a traffic stop led to a harrowing discovery. Bailey Estrada, 24, found himself in cuffs Tuesday, following a stop by Bexar County Precinct 2 deputy constables that unveiled more than traffic violations. Estrada, a previous staff member at Harlan High School, was detained after deputies observed signs of distress in both him and a young girl in his vehicle, which prompted further investigation.
Deputy constables said they initially pulled Estrada over on Monday. The "nervous behavior" of Estrada and the female passenger aroused suspicion, with authorities diving deeper into the cause. Their probing revealed the young girl had been sexually assaulted "over the course of several days," as noted by KSAT. The girl, whose identity remains protected, was subsequently returned to her family and sent to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Bexar County Constable's Office confirmed on the record that Estrada was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Estrada – who joined NISD as a special education department aid on Sept. 30, 2024, and tendered his resignation roughly a year later on Oct. 10.
Following the arrest, Estrada was booked into Bexar County Jail. Court records show that he was released on a $65,000 bond Wednesday morning. Details regarding the grand jury review and potential indictment are still forthcoming, but for the time being, a cloud of concern hangs over the district and the families associated with the school Estrada once served. In a statement to KENS 5, authorities confirmed that the case would be reviewed by a grand jury to determine any formal indictment.
