A former nurse at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore County has been taken into custody, facing charges of second-degree rape and other sex offenses. As reported by Fox Baltimore, the accused, Michael Cabanalan, 35, is allegedly involved in the rape of a patient under his care at the aforementioned hospital.

Baltimore County police provided details that the incidents in question unfolded in early September, when the victim was receiving treatment at Sheppard Pratt. According to the charging documents cited by WBAL-TV, Cabanalan is said to have engaged in conversations with the patient on hospital premises. The disturbing chain of events continued after the patient's discharge. Wherein, the nurse is accused of picking the patient up from the vicinity of her home and taking her to an apartment in Towson, where two alleged rapes occurred.

Cabanalan, who is no longer associated with Sheppard Pratt, was terminated due to these grave allegations. Addressing the issue, Sheppard Pratt stated, "The safety and well-being of those in our care is always our first priority and one that we take very seriously," in a statement obtained by WBAL-TV. Additionally, the hospital reported the allegations to law enforcement swiftly and has been supporting subsequent investigations into the case.

As the case unfolds, the authorities are alerting the public to any additional information, urging individuals to come forward if they have further details or believe they may have been victimized by the former nurse. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to reach out to the police at 410-887-7720 or the Baltimore County Department of Social Services at 410-887-8463. In the meantime, Cabanalan remains in custody at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.
