A fire broke out yesterday at the former Pups Pub Sports Bar in Tampa, a business that had previously closed following legal issues over indoor operations. According to WFLA, the fire led to the temporary closure of Kennedy Boulevard in both directions as Tampa Fire Rescue worked to contain the blaze near W. Kennedy Blvd and S. Westland Avenue.
Nearby buildings, including a Circle K and an apartment complex, were evacuated as a precaution. WTSP reported that firefighters contained the flames within about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and traffic in the area has since returned to normal. FOX 13 News noted that the blaze was classified as a second-alarm fire, requiring additional resources due to its intensity and proximity to other structures.
