Residents in Lewisville looking to spruce up their homes and neighborhoods have a prime opportunity to learn about available grants that could lighten the financial load. Lewisville Neighborhood Services is hosting a free workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m., at Thrive, located at 1950 S. Valley Parkway, where participants can get the scoop on home repair resources and grant options, as per the City of Lewisville.

Those interested in attending should register by the prior day, Sunday, Oct. 13. Information on the grant process, application guidelines, and countywide resources will be covered during the session, the workshop is part of a series put on by the city to educate homeowners on programs that can help them in the maintenance and improvement of their living spaces, and in turn, their community relationships and curb appeal—an initiative aligned with Lewisville's "Diverse and Thriving Neighborhoods" goal within the broader Lewisville 2025 vision plan.

Three different grant opportunities take center stage at these workshops. The Property Enhancement Program offers a grant-rebate to assist with exterior home repairs, potentially covering up to 50 percent of costs, Love Your Block provides a $500 reimbursable mini grant which residents can apply for year-round, and it targets community building efforts; like neighborhood parties and shared space renovations, and the Neighborhood Enhancement Program dishes out matching grants up to $12,500, aiming to encourage groups to embark on beautification projects which could range from enhancing neighborhood parks to implementing emergency response teams.

For those unable to make the October session, additional workshops are scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Lewisville Public Library and Dec. 2 and 9 at the Castle Hills Community Center and Lewisville Grand Theater respectively; each session starts at 6:30 p.m. and concludes an hour later, these monthly workshops present a consistent avenue for residents to empower themselves in pursuing a more vibrant, connected, and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood.
