As winter approaches and people begin to plan their holiday travels, the Gahanna Division of Police is offering a service to ease the minds of residents leaving their homes unattended. A social media update from the division outlines the details of their House Watch program, which will have officers periodically check on the properties of those out of town.
For residents considering voyages to warmer climates or trips to join family for the seasonal festivities, Gahanna authorities have established an online process that intends to streamline the house watching request system, however, it was made clear that the traditional methods of paper and fax submissions have been discontinued, which could suggest a push towards modernization and efficiency, and the service potentially less accessible to those not as internet-savvy.
Submission instructions were concisely communicated through the Gahanna Division of Police's Facebook post. Homeowners are to visit the official Gahanna website, click on the “File Reports & Requests” option, and then select the OpenGov link to access the House Watch Request Form. For those needing assistance with the online process, a phone number was also provided.
