On Monday morning, a 13-year-old girl escaped a kidnapping attempt while walking to Galveston's Central Middle School. Around 6:58 a.m., near the 900 block of 28th Street, a man grabbed her from behind. She fought back, biting him twice, and ran safely to school. The girl was not hurt. Galveston police are investigating, according to CW39.
Galveston police are investigating a possible abduction. They collected surveillance video from a business on the 1000 block of 24th Street showing a man following a young girl. The suspect is described as White or Hispanic, wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and possibly a ski mask. Police also alerted local hospitals to watch for anyone with bite-related injuries, which the girl caused while defending herself, as reported by ABC13.
After a student arrived at school, officials contacted the police, who began an investigation. The student’s parents helped by retracing her route to school.
