The City of Garland has announced a temporary relocation of multiple departments due to renovations at the Ronald Jones Municipal Building. According to the City of Garland, the City Engineering Department is set to move to a new temporary location at 316 N. Glenbrook Drive starting Thursday, Oct. 30.
Meanwhile, the Transportation Department staffers currently based at the downtown municipal stronghold are scheduled to start operating out of the Garland Traffic Shop at 409 Forest Gate Drive beginning Friday, Oct. 31. The transition aims to ensure the continuation of city services without interruption during the infrastructure upgrades, which are slated to extend well into early 2026.
Additional departments, including Building Inspection, Planning, Community Development, and Neighborhood Vitality, are also making a shift. These departments will operate from 713 Austin St. starting Monday, Nov. 3, after relocating over the weekend. The move is part of a broader strategy to maintain service provision whilst the main building undergoes its long-overdue refurbishment.
